LEARN MUAY THAI. BUILD REAL SKILL. PROGRESS YOUR WAY.
Looking for Muay Thai classes in Neutral Bay? BX1 offers structured, coach-led training for adult men and women—from complete beginners and fitness-focused members to experienced practitioners. Learn proper striking technique, improve your conditioning and build confidence in a welcoming gym where you can train seriously without the ego.
Muay Thai—also known as Thai boxing—combines punches, kicks, knees and elbows with footwork, defence, combinations and controlled partner drills. Start for fitness, learn the art properly or keep developing advanced skills at your own pace. Sparring is never required for beginners or members who prefer non-contact training.
Based on Military Road in Neutral Bay, BX1 welcomes members from North Sydney, Mosman, Cremorne, Cammeray, Crows Nest and across Sydney’s Lower North Shore.
BEGINNER MUAY THAI CLASSES
No previous Muay Thai experience or high level of fitness is required. Coaches introduce stance, guard, movement and core strikes progressively, then help you practise at a level that suits your ability. You can build technique and fitness together without being expected to keep up with experienced members from day one.
A typical session may include a warm-up, technical instruction, bag or pad work, combinations and conditioning. The class is challenging, but it is coached rather than thrown at you. Contact and partner work are introduced only in an appropriate, controlled way, and sparring is not part of starting as a beginner.
EXPERIENCED MUAY THAI PRACTITIONERS
Already trained in Muay Thai or another striking discipline? BX1 gives you room to refine timing, distance, balance, defence, combinations, pad work and tactical decision-making while coaches adjust the level of challenge to your experience.
More advanced partner work and supervised sparring may be available when appropriate and always remain subject to coach approval. BX1’s Muay Thai coaching includes international coaching and competition experience, including a two-time amateur Muay Thai champion in Thailand.

ADULT MUAY THAI CLASSES
Beginner-Friendly to Experienced | Technical Striking & Fitness
Learn Muay Thai through structured instruction, individual practice, bags, pads and controlled partner drills. Coaches help first-timers establish sound foundations while giving experienced members technical detail and harder progressions. You can train for skill, fitness and enjoyment without being required to spar.
BEGINNER MUAY THAI FOUNDATIONS
New Starters | Stance, Guard, Balance & Core Strikes
Start with stance, guard, posture, balance and movement before adding punches, kicks, knees and elbows progressively. Coaches demonstrate each skill, explain the important details and help you work at an achievable pace. No previous martial arts experience is needed.
PAD WORK, BAGS & COMBINATIONS
All Levels | Accuracy, Timing, Rhythm & Conditioning
Practise individual strikes and combinations on bags, Thai pads and kick shields. These rounds help you connect technique with movement, timing and controlled power while building the fitness to maintain good form as the work becomes more demanding.
PUNCHES, KICKS, KNEES & ELBOWS
The Art of Eight Limbs | Technique Before Power
Muay Thai is known as the Art of Eight Limbs because it develops coordinated use of the fists, shins, knees and elbows. BX1 coaching prioritises balance, positioning, control and clean execution before speed or power, helping you build skills that work together rather than isolated movements.
DEFENCE, FOOTWORK & DISTANCE
All Levels | Movement, Reactions & Composure
Learn how stance and footwork support both attack and defence. Technical drills develop your ability to manage distance, check or evade strikes, return safely to position and stay composed while making decisions under increasing pressure.
PARTNER DRILLS & CLINCH DEVELOPMENT
Progressive | Control, Position & Technical Awareness
Controlled partner drills help you understand range, reactions and how techniques work with another person. Clinch positioning and related skills may be introduced when appropriate for the class and your experience. Partners are expected to work cooperatively and with control.
MUAY THAI FITNESS & CONDITIONING
All Levels | Cardio, Strength, Power & Endurance
Muay Thai training challenges the whole body through repeated striking, movement and conditioning rounds. Work at your level while developing cardiovascular fitness, balance, core strength, coordination and the endurance to keep your technique together from the first round to the last.
ADVANCED DEVELOPMENT & SPARRING
Experienced Practitioners | Timing, Tactics & Controlled Contact
Experienced members can work on more complex combinations, tactical responses, timing and controlled contact. Sparring is optional, is never part of a beginner’s first class and remains limited to appropriately prepared participants with coach approval and the required protective equipment.
PRIVATE MUAY THAI & SMALL-GROUP TRAINING
1:1 Coaching & Small Groups of Up to 4
Accelerate your progress with 1:1 private Muay Thai or small-group training for up to four people. Your coach can focus on stance, striking technique, pads, movement, fitness, confidence or advanced development according to your experience and goals.

DO I HAVE TO SPAR?
No. Many BX1 members train for technique, fitness and enjoyment without sparring. Sparring is optional and reserved for appropriately experienced, equipped and coach-approved participants.
DO I NEED TO BE FIT BEFORE I START?
No. Muay Thai will help you build fitness through regular training. Start at a sustainable pace, focus on technique and let the coach know if you need an exercise adjusted.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
